Family Night Out at Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach, CA

Looking for a fun way to spend a Friday night with the family?  Every third Friday of the month during the summer, the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach is hosting a family concert series.  K-Earth is there broadcasting and providing the entertainment.

Pull up a deck chair, order a plate of nachos and have a great evening watching the sunset across the water!  The even itself is free (including swimming!), but you have to order nachos, drinks, etc.

We had the chance to check out last month's event and here are a couple pictures from our fun night.  We had a great a time!  If you're in the area this Friday, be sure to head on over! Be sure to grab a jacket in case the winds kick up at sunset. For more information about the events go here.

Easy and Inexpensive Home Spa Treatments

Recently, I've been on the lookout for quick & easy, yet totally indulgent home spa treatments.  Recently at the Pacific Waters Spa Mom Blogger event (at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach) we were shown how to make these wonderful home treatments... Enjoy!

Mocha Latte Wrap
(deep moisturizing skin treatment)
2 Tbsp ground coffee
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
3 Tbsp coconut butter (find at health food stores)
Plastic wrap (this step can be skipped)

Mix the food ingredients in a small bowl.  Apply in light circular motion on desired area.  Wrap area lightly in plastic wrap for approximately 10 minutes.  Remove plastic wrap and rinse treated area thoroughly in warm shower.

*The coffee is stimulating, an anti-oxidant, cleansing, deodorant & detoxifying.  The Coconut butter melts at body temperature.  It smooths skin, is an excellent emollient and lowers evaporation for the skin.

Peppy Feet Foot Treatment

3/4 cup Aloe gel (you can find this at Trader Joe's)
1 cup organic sugar crystals
1/2 tsp crushed fresh mint leaves
(optional 4 drops peppermint oil)

Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl.  Apply to feet in light circular motion to exfoliate and soften calloused areas.  You may wrap feet lightly in plastic wrap and warm towels for 3-4 minutes.  Unwrap feet and rinse feet with cool or warm water.

*The Aloe gel is soothing and healing.  The Peppermint/mint improves energy, calms nerves, clears/stimulates mind, aides in concentration, helps with motion sickness, headache and nausea.  The Sugar assists with exfoliation.

** Please note I am not a doctor and none of the above are meant to diagnose or treat anything.  But the information is relatively commonly known.

Pacific Waters Spa at the Hyatt - Win a Luxurious Spa Day!

Okay... so there are some seriously cool perks to this blogging thing, like *ahem* having to test out the amazingly wonderful spa services at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Pacific Waters Spa.  Yes, tonight a bunch of us Mom Bloggers got the chance to sample a number of the absolutely amazing services they have to offer.

It's been awhile since I've taken the time to pamper myself, six years to be exact.  Six years ago I had my last pregnancy massage.  As Moms, it is super hard to find the time, let alone plan out time for rejuvenation even though we all know we desperately need it.

The amazing staff at the Pacific Waters Spa rolled out the red carpet for us.  We began lounging by the fire in the lounge.

Then came a back massage.  Then we went on to have an amazing hand treatment. Next came a tour of the facility (note the amazing outdoor firepit!)

Next up were some amazing, simple, easy to do at home spa treatments (watch for posts with the directions over the next few days).  We were then treated to this amazing buffet of gourmet spa food...

Okay... now that you probably hate me right now... here's YOUR chance to win an ENTIRE day of pampering at the Pacific Waters Spa.  This will include a 60 minute Facial, 60 minute Massage, 60 minute Body Wrap and either the 60 minute Thalasso Bath or Sea Salt Foot Therapy.  Want to know how to enter?  It's simple!  Become a fan of Pacific Waters on Facebook or follow @HyattSpaHB on Twitter.  You'll need to tweet or post on the Facebook wall the following phrase for it to count:

"I became a fan of Pacific Waters Spa after reading OCMomActivities!"

Not enough yet?  Well, by becoming a fan you automatically receive 20% off any 60 minute treatment.  Love that!  Pacific Waters Spa is also offering some simply amazing seasonal memberships that I'll tell you about in another post.  You won't believe the amazing pampering you can purchase for a lot less than you would think it would cost!

* Note that this giveaway is intented for the blogger who gives the most referrals and I am choosing to pass it on to one of my readers instead.  :)

Hyatt Regency HB Healthy Dining Showcase

The other day a handful of Mom Bloggers were treated to a wonderful showcase of the talents of Chef Priscilla Willis on staff at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa in honor of Diabetes Awareness Month.  It was an amazing experience full of delicious and healthy food.  Chef Willis oversees The Californian restaurant's vegetarian, vegan and light fare menus.  (The Hyatt will begin offering seasonal cooking lessons beginning in 2010!) Be sure to stop in for some of the rejuvenating spa treatments in the Pacific Waters Spa where they offer one of the most rare and exotic spa treatments in the world - the Thalasso Seawater Bath.  Pacific Waters Spa also offers treatments for men and children in addition to women.

Below is the first delicious course we were treated to:
(posted with permission)

Nori Wraps -super easy, fast and great for all ages.
1 package Firm Tofu, Julienne
2 each Carrots, Julienne
1 each Cucumber, Julienne
2 each Avocado, Slices
1 each Mango, Slices
1 package Nori (seaweed) Wrapper (roasted)
1 head Bibb Lettuce

Place a sheet of Nori on a plate and filling (all the ingredients) down the diagonal center.  To fold the wrap, bring up the bottom corner and begin rolling in the sides from the left to right.  The technique is much like rolling a burrito.  Or you can tuck the ends under each other and you will have a neat bundle.  Serves 6.

Miso Sauce
1 oz. Miso Paste
1/2 cup Water
2 oz. Rice Wine Vinegar
2 packets Splenda
3 T Peanut Butter, Creamy
1 T Light Soy Sauce
2 T Sesame Oil

Wisk all ingredients together until all come together.  Taste for more seasoning.

Enjoy!

Hyatt Recency Huntington Beach Spa Discounts for Beach Clean-up

One of the biggest draws of people here in California is its’ beaches. But unfortunately from time to time people forget that the beach doesn’t clean itself! I can’t tell you how many beach clean-ups I have participated in over the years (I started waaaay back in Middle School!). It’s always been something I loved doing (any excuse to go to the beach!) but am always saddened to see the junk that people leave at the beach. Kinda leaves you wondering if people forget what the garbage cans are there for! I’ve personally found everything from syringes to wrappers to hundreds of cigarette butts to let’s just not mention… Gross!!!

When I found out that the Pacific Waters Spa at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach Resort & Spa would be offering fantastic discounts to participants in the upcoming OC Coastal Clean-up Day on September 19th, I knew I had to share it! Volunteers who take advantage of the Pacific Waters Spa discount will have access to the resort’s 20,000 square foot spa that includes a full-service beauty spa, 24 hour health club, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauns, outdoor co-ed relaxation garden with waterfall and a spa retail store! They are offering a drastically discounted rate of $99 (normally $145!!!) for the Pure Results Facial for participants in the Coastal Clean-up effort! What a deal!! To get your coupon click here and for more information about the Coastal Clean-up click here.

Get your kids started in volunteering early and teach them some great personal responsibility at the same time!
